The Weekly Poll

Poll ending December 23rd, 2001
Will you help Gary and Deby move?

Yes, of course! 11 (41%)

No, I don't think so. 5 (19%)

I don't know, any free food involved? 11 (41%)

I hate these polls, I don't want to help! 0 (0%)

27 Total votes

Well, it looks like we're going to need to bribe our movers with food! :) Frankly, it's a little disappointing that we only got an e-mail confirmation from one set of movers (thanks Dawn and Jamie), but I know there are more of you out there, so it's ok. As the moving date edges closer, we'll be looking for some more firm commitments from all of you. And all of you "no" voters, we'll just assume you're in England and you can't make it :)

Poll ending December 15th, 2001
Should Deby and Gary paint the walls before they move in?

Yes, definitely yes 11 (38%)

No, wait and see what fits the house 6 (21%)

Yes, as long as moving isn't delayed 12 (41%)

No, never paint the walls! 0 (0%)

I don't care, it's your house 0 (0%)

Due to Gary's absence last weekend, we had to continue the poll on for an extra week. Looks like everyone wants us to at least paint the walls sometime. We're just happy that nobody said that they didn't care at all :) We'll probably wait and see when the final closing date is. If it's earlier than the 18th, we'll do some painting. Otherwise, we'll wait. We really want to move in on the 19th of January.

Poll ending December 1st, 2001
What is your preferred window covering?

Horizontal Blinds 7 (39%)

Vertical Blinds 5 (28%)

Shades 3 (17%)

Curtains 3 (17%)

Bedsheets 0 (0%)

18 Total votes

The vote on this poll was a little split (and many of you didn't even show up to vote on this -very- important poll!.) Since we can't afford to buy things for all the windows in the house we (mostly Deby) are going to try and make some curtains for the most important windows to start with and then see how it goes from there.

Poll ending November 25th, 2001
Should Deby and Gary give the weekly poll a rest for a few weeks?

No 24 (77%)

Yes 7 (23%)

31 Total votes

We'll go with the crowd on this one and carry on with our polls. However, it's disappointing to know that 7 of you don't love the polls! Nobody has fessed up to it yet though, so we don't know who voted that we take a break. Don't worry though, we'll find you! ;)

Poll ending November 17th, 2001
Should the carpet be the same throughout the entire upstairs?

Yes 20 (91%)

No 2 (9%)

22 Total votes

Don't think your vote doesn't count, we've decided we are going to have the same carpet for all the upstairs rooms. Sometimes we just need a little help making the decisions.

Poll ending November 10th, 2001
Should Gary be allowed to have a pool table in the basement?

Yes 26 (84%)

No 5 (16%)

31 Total votes

Well, I'm allowed to have one but for some reason I have to wait until the important things have been bought. You know, like places to sit, and tables to eat at...oh well.

Poll ending November 4th, 2001
What is the first major purchase that Gary and Deby should make?

Dining room table and chairs 9 (53%)

Vitamix 5000 4 (24%)

DVD Surround Sound System 3 (18%)

Welcome Mat 1 (6%)

Computer Desk 0 (0%)

17 Total votes

Gary is still holding out for the surround sound, and while it would be nice, the table is going to have to be a top priority. Although, the welcome mat would make a nice housewarming gift, in case anyone was trying to come up with something.

Poll ending October 27th, 2001
What room in our new house should be the first to be decorated?

Living Room 5 (38%)

Family Room 4 (31%)

Kitchen/Dining Room 3 (23%)

Guest Room 1 (8%)

Office 0 (0%)

13 Total votes

Since the living room is the first area in the house that people see, we'll probably end up doing something to that room first. We were going to start out with the dining room, but thanks to Grandma Helen's dining room table and chairs, that area will wait and we'll get some couches and end tables first. I guess since there was only one vote for the guest room, it means that we won't be having any visitors soon :-(
